The Hatters take Redcliffe

The Thicket was out and about in Redcliffe this afternoon – beginning with lunch at Morgan’s and finishing at the Redcliffe Jetty with some panning practice with seagulls and kite boarders. Can you spot the Little Ness Monster in this album? We spotted him in the water today, he’s probably on vacation to escape the Scottish winter.

Lone Pine

Such an exciting outing! Today I was invited to come along to a photo shoot at Lone Pine for new publicity photos for the animals. We got the chance to be very up close and personal with some amazing critters – including birds of prey and snakes! My favourite of the group was a barking owl named Smudge – you can tell, I took lots of pictures of him. I learned a lot – including how freaking HARD it is to track a kestrel when it’s flying!

Merry Christmas 2011

The tree is about to come down again for another year, though it’s already half undressed thanks to an army of willing little helpers this morning. We had a lovely Christmas! The girls were MOST excited to finally take delivery of their shiny new iPods from Santa and even Kormos scored a few doggy goodies. We spent Christmas Eve looking at lights and at Nanna & Grampa’s house – opening a few presents, toasting marshmallows and (on my part anyway) trying not to barf as Grampa scoffed down part of his present… a half a dozen of the biggest, slimiest, grossest oysters I’ve ever seen. Blegh. Even the photos make me queasy. And on that note, enjoy the photos!

Christmas Lights 2011

Total Lunar Eclipse

The clouds parted over Brisbane last night just long enough for us to see a glowing red moon morph from totality back to a full moon, when a thick blanket of cloud rolled right in over the top of us again. The second image is a composite of nine photos taken every 7 minutes or so (depending on cloud traffic!!)

Rain Rain Go Away…

… or at the very least take a tea break for the next half an hour? Please?
